Came here for lunch with my husband and 2 year old daughter.
At first I thought it was a nice little pub, we were sat in a quiet cosy area down some steps which I thought was perfect for my daughter to contain her (if needed). Which actually turned out to be a great idea as we waited 45 minutes for our food. She was getting fidgety and so were we. Not even a sorry for delay when the food finally arrived either. After my husband asking twice how long food was likely to be too.
I ordered a cheese ploughman’s, my husband a ciabatta and my daughter nugget meal. Why it took 45 min to make that I don’t know,. My cheese looked like leftovers from another plate, the ciabatta I was told was ok. But the nuggets were so over cooked my daughter ended up picking the batter off them all.
The price was pretty ridiculous too, even for todays cost of living.
The aperol spritz however was lovely, which I had 2 of while waiting for our food.
Sadly we will not be returning anytime soon.

Chilly day, but very warm welcome, staff and roaring fire. Excellent roast dinner; one of the best I have had in a pub. Is a lovely spot, friendly staff and all our food was great, hot plates, good quality ingredients, well cooked. If I had one teeny fault to mention, service was a little slow, but nowhere would I rather have been on a winter afternoon with old friends, so wasn't an issue for us. Good job Ash Tree Inn, wished we lived nearer would be regular haunt.

First visit here of many more to come!!
Perfect location stunning views and beautiful inside too.
Great service very friendly and welcoming too.
Fantastic food I was split between either having fish and chips or the steak and kidney pudding after speaking to someone and being told they are made fresh everyday I went with the steak and kidney pudding Omg! It was delicious. My partner went with the salmon from the specials board which looked amazing too.
Thank you for making our first time experience in your pub one to remember

Beautiful location in peaceful surroundings. Staff were very polite and welcoming.
Dog friendly which is always a plus.

Food was first class. I had beef bourginon the meat melted in my mouth. Served with mash carrots and broccoli.
My wife had vegetarian curry with poppadom and mango chutney absolutely delicious. Portions were very large. Staff were attentive throughout our meal.
We are looking forward to returning soon.

Lovely traditional pub located really in the middle of nowhere. A long winding drive, but worth the trip.

There was a relaxed and warm atmosphere which was nice considering how awful the weather was outside. Staff were friendly and accommodating. The portions were decent but the quality just felt a little off. The batter on the fish was a little over done.

On the whole though, a nice experience. There is large car park located just opposite the pub. It also appeared to be dog friendly as a patron did come in with a dog.

The pub is a quaint old building in the heart of East Sussex countryside. The staff were very friendly and the food was excellent - huge portions and delicious. Worth a visit but book as although it was near empty on our arrival it soon filled up and that was a Thursday lunch time.
