Steve Brookes is a con man with no scruples about providing the worst customer service after taking your money. Hands up - I didn’t read the reviews before parting with a sizeable deposit and will regret it forever. 99.9% are bad. I’ve had to score them 1 star in order to write this review which is 1 star too many. Ordered my bathroom with Steve in Feb last year and specifically asked for all black fittings, shower cubicle, tap, radiator etc. Mark, the fitter, came with all the fittings and stupidly left him to it only to find he’d fitted a chrome shower cubicle. When I got in touch with Steve he didn’t want to know and said it was my fault and I’d have to pay extra for a black cubicle! Needless to say I didn’t and the chrome cubicle was eventually replaced with a black one after much arguing and stress. Also the radiator was fitted to the wall with very noticeable white pipes at the bottom! (See photo). How can a professional think that’s acceptable. Paul Newton is the customer manager and was completely incompetent. He suggested that I just paint the pipes black myself. He also wanted me to source a replacement shower because the one they fitted leaked. I had to put up with the leak for weeks until Mark found the same one on Amazon which turned out to be very cheap. Mark also told me that Steve reuses stock that has been sent back and that’s why I’d been sent the chrome cubicle and also why they couldn’t find the receipt for the shower. The extensive list of faults are too many to mention here but include the wall cladding bowing every time I have a shower and sealant coming away from the wall leaving gaps and looking unfinished and untidy. Please, please, please do not part with your hard earned money to this company who shouldn’t still be in business.

Avoid!! Avoid!! Avoid at all cost.

Had a wet room installed to replace a shower room by these cowboys.

Was supposed to take 5 - 6 days to complete.
Was left without a shower for over 2 weeks and a toilet for over 1 week.
They came up with every excuse in the book as to why the fitter couldn't come, and when he did arrive he usually had to leave early.

About 6 weeks after completion, the tiles in the wet area started to move and the grout started to come out.
Tried to get hold of Steve Brooke but could only get through to a constant recorded message saying he was in a meeting and would get back to me. Same message regardless of what time of day or night it was.
Tried to get hold of the fitter Phil and would you believe he had an excuse why he couldn't come.

Ended up having to get another proper tradesman n to take up the tiles, lay a new membrane and reptile at a cost of £650.

Stay well away from anything Steve Brooke is involved with.

Tip: Search companies house to see other companies he has been a director of. Doesn't make for good reading.

Do not use these cowboys. S don’t be fooled by the sales talk or price.
Had to get them of site after stealing bathroom facilities that we have bought.
Ended up getting another company in and they had to rip out all that done because the shower leaked into the hallway virtually cost the same again. Repeat, do not use these circumstances you will regret it. We did.

Do not trust Steve brooks or shepherd home improvements both should be struck off trading .6 days with no bathroom as sent new one to Doncaster I live different area .. send different toilet to what we ordered bath had chips in it .started work on 7th June 4th October was supposed to come back and re fit the whole bath another lame excuse.. so asked for some kind of refund who was only paid from Richard shepherd.

Steve came round at the beginning of the December. Said he could get the bathroom done the following week before Christmas. Even said he could get the panels I wanted and despite the panels being noted by Steve as expensive when he was in my lounge doing the quote, he did not adjust his quote which was £7k for both upstairs and downstairs bathrooms despite there being far more work to be done downstairs. I paid a £2k deposit but should have checked the reviews before parting ways with the cash which was paid by bank transfer. I was pulled in by the prospect of getting the bathroom sorted which was in a bad state - my daughter coming home from uni etc. As Steve left he made a comment about going to inspect some work at a multimillion property he was doing 5 bathrooms for. This was the first red flag - seemed a tall story for someone quoting on our small house. So I checked the reviews and was disappointed to read the many similar stories. I’m still trying to get my deposit refunded nearly 3 weeks on and despite making it clear that I wanted to cancel the job about 30 minutes after he left the house. Says he can’t call a bank to ask them to return money to sender as it would take too many hours! Now says he will send a cheque after his holidays on 8th Jan. Steve thinks he’s being clever - I wasn’t even going to post a review as thought I’d give him a chance to prove the reviews wrong. But he doesn’t care - I guess a few customers give up trying to get their money back in situations like this - I won’t.

This is day 17 of our bathroom refit. We were told originally that it might take 2 weeks, it's obviously going to take a lot longer. They insist on payment up front but then don't do the job. Payment for rubbish removal is separate, they don't tell you that. It's impossible to speak to anyone on the phone just goes to answer phone. We are both disabled pensioners so they have decided to take advantage of that Cannot recommend this company

Again Steve Brooks strikes again. I having been trying to contact him following the instilation of our en-suite and downstairs cloakroom. The cistern lid was broken and needs replacing we have a leak in the en-suite. The cost quoted went up by another £600 for items that Steve said would be included. Avoid at all cost. I wish I too had read previous reviews.

Steve Brooks is a smooth talking charlatan. I came across his negative reviews after handing over a considerable deposit, l told Steve l wished to cancel within 10 minutes of him leaving my home, Steve then offered a different payment plan, l still asked for my money back, which Steve assured me would be in my account the next morning. Then came excuse after excuse to delay my refund. Finally after 10 days l have received my full deposit refund, but it has been 10 stressful days l could have done without. Do yourself a favour pay a few £k extra and hire a professional. I will, be doing.
