Ok, tbh it's a huge centre, but they are open to the public. The service was SUPER fast and there was no queue and since it's an actual distribution centre the scan was in the network already, which was awesome. I'll definitely prefer them tbh!

I wrote this review on the wrong end of two hours of trying to work out what has happened to the delivery that 'DHL identified as being handed to me!' It was not!

The delivery notes showed my new mattress as being on the doorstep of an address with the note saying Handed to resident names as myself.
Eventually I managed to speak to someone at DHL to find from their GPS data it was at an address of the same door number some distance away. The address in the order was my own as that was my first thought too.
I was advised that I need to speak to Dunelm myself. That an email would be sent to the delivery office for Monday and it is basically my problem to sort out as politely as it may have been said.
Meanwhile Dunelm who I also cannot get hold of will think that they have provided what I paid for.
DHL:
Check address.
Don't mark as handed over when it is not.
Don't leave in the rain
Read instructions and if they say there is a porch and there is not then that is a clue
Have someone who can do something about a problem that you have generated.

@9:10 recieved an email stating "Your DHL Express shipment is scheduled for delivery TODAY between 15:05 and 17:05."

Thought it was ok to pop out, only to see that the driver arrived at my door (missed the ring doorbell notificatio) at 9:32!

Thought it was ok as the DHL tracker stated it was still out for delivery, so maybe he'll try again later.

Recieved another email at 11:37 stating "Our courier is just a few stops away and will deliver your DHL Express shipment shortly." So thought "great, he'll be back"

Tracked the vehicle and eventually he just stopped at their depot.

Recieved another email at 12:58 stating "We were unable to deliver your DHL Express shipment today because no one was home at the time of our attempted delivery." And the tracker now stated "Delivery attempted but no response at Consignee address : Saturday, September 28, 2024 at 12:45". I was at home and he didnt even come at that time!

Rang DHL and spoke to kirsty who said she couldn't get through to the depot but has logged a call back request on the drivers PDA. no call back, no update on the system, so tried calling kirsty at DHL and phone lines were now closed (Saturday at 14:00).

What's the point in notifying customers of time slots or having a tracker if the driver doesnt keep accurate data!

Went after finding the DHL website wasn't private customer friendly. We needed to post documents urgently and quickly overseas so Reading depot it was. We were seen very quickly, with a friendly service, chatty and warm staff greeted us, dealt with our concerns and skilfully guided us through the process. For a large depot it had a very nice personal service feel, we just felt comfortable and at ease posting something that was important to us. Within four days it had arrived 8000 miles away. Excellent if you ask me! Well done DHL Reading. That's a nice one from me. Recommended.
