We arranged to meet my daughter (who's at uni in the great city of Bath) and her partner, for a Sunday lunch, and we had recommendations for Clayton's, and wow, I can see why.
On a pleasantly warm March Sunday we met up and were seated at a table in the window. The menu looked great and the lamb special sounded, well, special. Having eaten out the night before we decided to skip starters and go straight into the main course ordering two sirloin beef Sunday roast, a roast chicken and the lamb. They arrived promptly and were all sensational. Perfectly cooked meat and sumptuous vegetables with rich sweet potato purée and a decadent gravy. So outstanding - every plate was clean.
We tried the desserts too and again they were equally excellent.
All this in a smart, trendy space with a vibrant atmosphere and excellent service. We really couldn't fault it.

A Truly Exceptional Dining Experience at Clayton’s Kitchen

We had the absolute pleasure of dining at Clayton’s Kitchen in Bath, and it was nothing short of spectacular. From the moment we walked in, the warm and friendly staff made us feel completely at ease, ensuring we were well taken care of throughout the evening.

The food was simply exceptional, showcasing the talent and mastery of the chef-owner, who has been awarded two Michelin stars – and rightfully so! Every dish was a masterpiece, but the crab was an absolute standout, bursting with incredible depth of flavor. The pan-fried roast beef was equally impressive – beautifully rich, juicy, and cooked to perfection. Each plate was crafted with finesse, balancing flavors and textures in the most delightful way.

The ambiance was elegant yet relaxed, making it the perfect setting for a memorable dining experience. If you’re in Bath and looking for a restaurant that delivers both outstanding food and impeccable service, Clayton’s Kitchen is a must-visit.

Wow incredible meal including best, freshest, tastiest sea bass ever - and that includes Le Bernardin! Duck was also extremely good, as was the soup and the charred corn.

Bread was off and the desserts while excellent were not quite as outstanding as the mains. Service was excellent and perfectly attentive. Wonderful vibe to the restaurant.

Bordeaux by the glass had gone bad but the Sicilian wine was excellent.

But the sea bass alone was worth it, just incredible.

I had the pleasure of enjoying a dinner at Clayton’s with friends and everything was absolutely wonderful, from the service to the delicious plates we ordered!

We will definitely come back to enjoy more time in this little gem of Bath!

Had a lovely time dining at Clayton’s. The staff were super lovely and welcoming.

For starters we had the goats cheese special and scallops. Mains we had pan roasted beef and the special lamb rump. Dessert we had the panna cotta and salted caramel chocolate mousse.

The goats cheese was the star of the show for us 🙂

Food was delicious, ingredients were fresh, friendly staff - would recommend! It is clear that they put a lot of thought into the menu.

Had the pleasure of attending this lovely restaurant for lunch. Firstly they are very responsive to emails for reservations/any changes, keep a look out for their daily specials, and our food was an absolute delight! The flavours all worked and complemented each other and we couldn’t wait to tuck into the beautiful plates. Huge compliments to the chef! Will be back the next time we are in Bath.

Food is fresh. I would definitely recommend the fish. I had a salmon salad and the tomato soup for the starters. I had the sea bass which was excellent and also tried the Cotswold chicken breast. The chocolate mousse and strawberry pannacotta.
