Unprofessional and lacking courtesy.

I'm compelled to write this review as I've received poor customer service on two occasions within the last week at the Post Office in Balsall Common.

On both occasions I'd been waiting patiently in line for over fifteen minutes. When it came to my turn I was told to wait (- not asked politely, but told. No Please, no Thank you- ) as the server needed to sort out the postage bags to be collected by the postman.

I understand the need for this to happen. What I don't understand is why there was only one person working the shift at the point the postman is known to turn up in the afternoon. This is really poor planning. I overheard the server state to the postman that another member of staff was on holiday, but surely there should be a back up plan, as the system was clearly not working efficiently. There was no apology for the additional wait, either, on both occasions.

The poor etiquette was emphasised further when having finally been served and handed the postage receipts I needed, the server was conversing with the postman still, rather than acknowledging the customer (me) and offering a simple thank you or goodbye.

You need to do better. It's basics.

Update - I've just returned from a third visit within the last seven days (yes I ordered too many clothes that didn't fit), met with the same lack of courtesy as before. No 'Hello', 'Thank you' or 'Good bye'. This is basic stuff. It's really poor.

I asked the lady if there was a cheaper way of sending a book rather than buy a pack of 5 envelopes. She said yes, we will supply envelope if you send it special delivery. She then charged me nearly £8 to send it which is 2 pounds more than original idea. I asked her why and she literally didn’t care and even put a happy voice on the words. Robbed.

Sadly having to edit my previous review. One newish female member of staff is very rude and unhelpful. Arguing with the customer is never a good look. Such a shame, the previous lady was really helpful.

Previous review : Always great service. Friendly staff, can be busy.

This is not the first time I have found the staff at Balsall Common unhelpful. I was so disgusted today I thought it was time to write a review. I called into the Post Office today to purchase some 2nd class stamps for an elderly neighbour. There were two tills with staff at both however only one open as the other had till closed sign up. I went to the open till I asked for the stamps but when I gave the bag of £7.32 to Lloyd the cashier he informed me he wouldn't take it as the silver should be in bags of £5 & bronze which was only 2p in bags of £1. I explained it was for an elderly neighbour to use to send her Christmas cards & he said it didn't make any difference. I can appreciate his attitude if I just wanted to exchange cash but the correct amount was in the bag to purchase the stamps. Merry Christmas Lloyd thanks for your help!

Waiting time is always dreadful standing in the way of shoppers as it is a shared post office uselessly only one member of staff not the best either hate to complain but most people are but will not say anything we should by now have a stand alone post office with at least 2 staff

It’s said on the internet the post office was open at 7:30am so I went and the shop was open but the post office wasn’t. Then I went at 12:50 again thinking it’s was open as the internet told me it was and it was close.
